Seneca Group Company, Acceleris Capital, were honoured to received three awards at the EISA Chairmans Reception, in the House of Lords, yesterday evening.
The Manchester Corporate Finance House was highly commended for Best SEIS Fund Sponsor 2014 for it’s string of successful SEIS fundraising and ongoing engagement with the industry. Acceleris Capital has created over 500 jobs across the North West through SEIS & EIS investing.
The second commendation was for best EIS Investment Exit, relating to the Acceleris exit of Metronet-UK
Acceleris co-founded Metronet from a start up, providing funds to acquire the infrastructure required to commence trading. Metronet quickly expanded to dominate the wireless lease line sector in Manchester and continued to expand it’s service in Leeds, Liverpool and Birmingham. Upon exit Acceleris Investors received an average nine times return on their investment.
And finally, Acceleris Capital’s Corporate Finance Executive, Simon Thorn (pictured left) took home the award for Best Rising Star of EIS for 2014.
Simon is active in the EIS industry, being one of the first in the country to complete the EIS Diploma, sitting on numerous panels to discuss the benefits of EIS investing and supporting the North West EISA technical seminar for the previous 4 years.
Founder and Chief Executive of Acceleris Capital, Norman Molyneux comments: “To be voted for by an independent judging panel makes the award very special and the appreciation of our peers in the EISA is very humbling. The success reflects not only the busy and rewarding year we had in 2014, but the hard work we have invested over the past 15 years in supporting Britain’s young Entrepreneurs. We believe that the ongoing support of Britain’s Entrepreneurs is key for the UK. Science and technology is a very strong area for rapid growth and job creation across the country; Redx Pharma, ADC Biotechnology and EveryCloud Computing are examples of recent Acceleris Portfolio Companies who are displaying rapid success from initial seed funding and we hope for further success in the coming year.
Our track record in job creation in the North West and supporting tangible growth of young companies is something we are very proud of. For example, after co-founding Metronet-UK, the company has gone from strength to strength and is now a key UK provider of wireless telecoms, providing over 100 jobs across Manchester and Yorkshire.
We at Acceleris and Seneca would like to pass on our thanks for this award to the EIS Association for their support”
Seneca acquired Manchester based Corporate Finance Boutique Acceleris Capital in 2014. Acceleris have specialised in the provision of growth capital and earlier stage company funding for over 15 years, completing almost 80 transactions with a value of over £75m. Along with Corporate finance advice and direct early stage funding, Acceleris Capital add their expertise to the Seneca EIS Portfolio.
Acceleris is also excited to be a sponsor to the Launch of the EISA Green Shoots. Green Shoots is the junior branch of the EISA, providing young professionals in the industry the chance to independently develop their own networks, interest and awareness of the world of alternative investments.
